Description
Led by singer/songwriter, Noel Burke (best known for his three year stint with Echo & the Bunnymen in the early 1990s) St. Vitus Dance release their new album "Bystanders" on Probe Plus Records. Formed in Belfast in the mid 1980's, the band released their first album, the critically well received "Love Me Love My Dogma" on Probe Plus in 1987.
In 2005 the members of St. Vitus Dance were approached by the organisers of Belfast's Cathedral Quarter Festival with a view to reforming the band for a one-off show. The success of this gig led to Noel writing new material and the band returning to the studio to record their first album in over twenty years, 2008's "Glypotheque."
"Bystanders" is a consistently melodic album of infinite variety and strong songwriting. Burke's songs mine a rich seam of wry observation, literate wit, exasperation and, in the case of the coalition baiting "A Lot to Learn", barbed political satire.
