The Annual Gurkha Festival of Music has been recorded live in performance from the Nye Hall Dover. Combined with The Canterbury Choral Society, this spectacular concert played to capacity audiences captures the special talents and styles of this world famous regimental band. Recorded over three nights in March 2009.
Within Nepali society, music forms an integral part of daily life and culture. From folk song performed in remote villages high in the majestic Himalayan mountains, to the rich and calming beat of the monastic chant; melody, harmony and hypnotic rhythm all combine to create the unique sound of Nepal's music. This artistic heartbeat of Nepal also has a strong influence in The Brigade of Gurkhas where instrumental music, song and traditional dance are regularly performed at festivals, marriages, birth ceremonies and National events. This recording displays the wide range of music played by the the Regimental Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas to audiences around the world.
