The jazz-orientated Hidden Colours is among the flurry of CD releases spawned from BBC Radio 3's Late Junction programme. DePaeaN have now licensed the 2002 BBC commissioned recording which has been unobtainable for the last few years, to release on our own label in conjunction with the BBC

The Story goes that when David Rees-Williams's reworking of Purcells's "When I Am Laid In Earth" first hit the airwaves, cyberspace was crowded with appreciative e-mails. Why? After all, the formula wasn't especially new, Jacques Loussier had already swung Bach with similar forces to similar effect. But not perhaps with such a consistant grip on the founding musical idea. David Rees-Williams brings a distinctive personal flavour to the music he is revisits. These are not just jazzed up Classics, but genuine reinterpretations that never lose sight of their musical roots.

(Excerpts taken from the introduction to Hidden Colours, written by Rob Cowan, Radio 3).
