Description

24 CUTS REPRESENTING THE ULTIMATE SOUND OF ELECTRIC CHICAGO BLUES. INCLUDES 'SPOONFUL' AND 'THE RED ROOSTER'.

The first Complete Blues collection from Howlin' Wolf entitled "Come On Home" (SBLUECD017) concentrated on his early days in Memphis in 1951 and 1952 when he recorded for Sam Phillips and had many of his recordings released on the Los Angeles Modern label. Volume 2 picks up the story in 1954, when he was already 44 years-old, following his relocation to Chicago where he had become an exclusive recording artist for Chess Records.

This compilation spanning just seven years (1954-1961) is a remarkable collection, especially the tracks 'Wang-dang-Doodle', 'Back Door Man', 'Spoonful' and 'The Red Rooster', recorded in the twelve month period between June of 1960 and June of 1961, all of which were written by Willie Dixon. These tracks represent the epitome of electric Chicago blues.
