England's squeezebox maestro John Kirkpatrick's latest album is a masterful recapitulation of all that's best about English folk music. This powerful collection is truly a master class and fully justifies John's reputation as "truly the mighty oak of English folk".

Quite a few of the recordings he has made over recent years have had some kind of theme ? songs from the World Wars, songs about farming, songs about Christmas, songs from Shropshire, original tunes, tunes for morris dancing, a record of duets. This time around John focusses on his current live favourites along with a couple of new untried ideas. "All noises on Coat-Tails Flying are made solely by Mr Kirkpatrick, with loads of songs and just two instrumental tracks."
