Description

Martin Carthy is probably the most important figure on the folk scene and has been for the last 40 years. He was a strong influence on Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in the early 1960s. His duo with Dave Swarbrick set the standard for folk performances in the 1960s and '70s. He was an early member of Steeleye Span. He has been a long time member of The Watersons and Waterson:Carthy.

During this time he has also managed to maintain a solo career that involved recording 15 solo albums and many other albums with the various groups and playing countless thousands of gigs up and down the country and around the world. He has won many accolades and awards: an M.B.E. for services to folk music, 'Singer Of The Year' in 2002 from the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and a second nomination in 2005 for the same award.

Out Of The Cut is a stunning album of traditional songs with Martin on guitar and furher accompaniments from John Kirkpatrick on concertina and accordian, Howard Evans on trumpet and Richard Thompson playing guitar on "Old Horse". A great album now available at a budget price.
