Matt Tighe is a very talented fiddle player born in London. His love of traditional music came from listening to his parents' record collection, including The Chieftains and Tom McConville and Pauline Kato.

After attending the Cambridhe Folk Festival in 2009 and listening to and watching Traditionalo music performers first hand, Matt decided to start learning the fiddle in earnest. Eight years on he is an acrive member of the UK folk scene, playing at festivals, clubs and sessions on a regular basis. He has been a finalist twice in the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections, an All Britain Fiddle Champion and a semi-finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. HIs style of fiddle playing is greatly influenced by the music of County Clare in Ireland, where his teachers, Dermot Crehan and Brendan Mulcaire, are linked to. Matt has also been heavily involved in Scottish music at Cambridge Folk Festivalo and on his many trips to Glasgow.

He is currently studying Classical Violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with John Crawford. Scotland's Brian McNeill, an outstanding fiddler himself of course, spotted Matt and very quickly set up a deal with Greentrax Recordngs to record Matt's debut album. The album was produced by Brian.
