With the release of his album in 1961 several doors were opened for this blind guitar playing preacher. It enabled him to move away from his street playing in Macon (to where he regularly returned) and join a festival tour which traveled the south east for several years. This first album is the predominant part of this CD and is made up of '60s hillbilly religious style and old style traditional religious blues mixed together to produce a fine album. In 1973 Bill Nowlin from Rounder recorded a second album and a year later he appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival and did several local club appearances including the radio broadcast which makes up the rest of this album.
