With her hit 1983 album, She's So Unusual, which spawned the classic feminist-pop anthem Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Cyndi Lauper ushered in a whole new era for women in music, characterised by thrift-store fashions and Day-Glo colour schemes that inspired her fans to explore their own creative self-expression.
