    The legendary Doug Sahm brought the rest of the world in contact with Flaco and his music, when he used Jimenez as a guest musician on his classic 'Doug Sahm And Band' album next to big name friends like Dr John & Bob Dylan. Following that introduction to the world, Flaco Jimenez recorded and toured with Ry Cooder and Peter Rowan all over the world. But in between such gigs he always returned to the icehouses and ballrooms of South Texas and till recently his recordings were usually oriented towards his original audience. Como Amigos includes twenty sides Flaco Jimenez and his conjunto recorded for the Corpus Christi based Hacienda Records, established in 1978, and one of the leading Spanish language labels in the 1980s and '90s, specializing in traditional Tex-Mex, Conjunto and Norteno music.
