Griselda Sanderson, or ’Gris’, plays the Swedish nyckelharpa. A founder member of the Scottish group Waulk Elektrik, she fell in love with the sound of the nyckelharpa after meeting two Swedish players. ’The sound of their instruments mesmerised me’ she recalls. The CD features solo nyckelharpa tunes and collaborations that explore common musical territory between cultures as diverse as Ireland and Ghana. Among the accompanying musicians are Max Moya Wright (of Ojos the Brujo), Steve Turner (accordian), James Dumbleton (bodhrán and guitar), Riaan Vosloo (double bass) and Sam Yeboah (djembe, kpanlogo and aslatua) from Ghana.
