New band alert. JUMBOTRON is a new band. A special new band that started just the other day. Consider yourself alerted. They're pretty wacky. As in, the EP opens with this loud math-rock punk thing but then the second song is a kind of art-rap song that's all 808s and gospel background singers and does some Dark Twisted Fantasy type of stuff. It just gets more diverse from there... But, Ben couldn't help himself, he's an eccentric music obsessive who has wasted countless hours at his day job making playlists that have as much Glenn Gould and Philip Glass as they do Napalm Death and Rae Sremmurd.
Here are some facts:
Ben Lebovitz is to JUMBOTRON as RZA is to Wu Tang. He produces everything and writes most of the music, sings, and plays guitar and bass. Many many years ago he was a partner in Ace Fu Records during their Pinback/Man Man/Sucka MCs heyday.
Regina Shvartsman graduated from the Lucy Moses School of music. In this band she plays keyboard parts that are way simpler than the Liszt and Schumann that she usually plays. She also sometimes yells Yoko-style in the background. FWIW she's also Ben's wife.
Zachary Eli Lint is Coolzey. He sings and raps, plays some instruments and writes periodically on the EP. Ben used to be his 'manager.' Heh. -
