Description
The album is entirely devoted to the work of Fryderyk Chopin. Polish dances - mazurka, kujawiak and oberek - find their most beautiful, most sublime interpretation in mazurkas. Chopin composed these lyrical miniatures throughout his entire life; however, he did not recur to literal quotations, but stylized the overheard melodies.
The featured mazurkas span several years of Chopin's oeuvre, from the earliest miniatures from opus 6, sketched just before his departure from Poland, to one of the last works, dated 1846.
Karolina Nadolska, a prize-winning pianist, performing on six continents, uses a wide range of expressive means in her interpretation, fully reflecting the diverse moods and colours of individual miniatures. Two late polonaises in the form of fantasy go far beyond the title form of dance - and yet in the pianist's interpretation, we can still feel its pulse, as if it were Chopin's heartbeat. An album for lovers of discovering new meanings in the music of the most outstanding Polish composer.
