Description
Audacious fighters, indomitable queens, and evil witches: On their debut CD, soprano Margriet Buchberger and the musicians of Il Giratempo put Handel's strongest and most mesmerizing women centre stage. This album gives us some of the most thrilling Handel arias, sung with naturalness, sensuality and luminosity.
Margriet has long been involved with the women of baroque and especially with the works of G.F. Handel: Among others, she performed the part of Anastasio in "Giustino" at the Stadttheater Schaffhausen, at the Theater Gütersloh and at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. She has sung Cleopatra in "Marc' Antonio e Cleopatra" by J.A. Hasse at the Ekhof Theater Gotha as well as Orfeo in "Parnasso in festa" (HWV 73) at the Schlosstheater Fulda and at the Händel-Festspiele Halle.
After studying singing with Martin Hummel in Würzburg, she continued her training at the Verdi Conservatory in Milano with Prof. M. Hayward. After receiving her degree in vocal performance from the University of Music Würzburg, she subsequently studied repertory with Cheryl Studer, Krisztina Laki, and Edita Gruberova.
The musicians of Il Giratempo play in leading Early Music groups and orchestras all over Germany.
