Description
For her second collaboration on the ATMA Classique label, soprano
Marie-Eve Munger presents a program devoted exclusively to
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
She is accompanied by Les Boreades
de Montreal conducted by Philippe Bourque.
Mozart composed
these rarely heard arias between the ages of twelve and sixteen.
Munger's recent successes include her debut with the Lyric Opera of
Chicago in Massenet's Cendrillon, the premiere of Boesmans '
Pinocchio at La Monnaie' in Brussels, appearances at Teatro alla
Scala in Milan, the Liceu in Barcelona, and the Festival d'Aix-enProvence in Richard Strauss's Elektra.
Specializing in baroque repertoire, Les Boreades was founded in
1991 by Francis Colpron. The ensemble has chosen a faithful
approach to historical performance practise. Critics and audiences in
Canada and abroad have unanimously praised the ensemble's verve,
spontaneity, and its theatrical, expressive, and elegant playing
qualities that reflect an intimate understanding of the spirit of the
Baroque.
"Marie-Eve Munger's new recording is a tour de force of scholarship and artistry. […] She collaborates with the vibrant period-instrument ensemble Les Boréades de Montréal, conducted by Phillipe Bourque, as if on a mission - which, of course, she most fervently is." - Gramophone
"this young Canadian soprano, whom I regrettably had never heard before, sings with such verve, musicality and technical accomplishment that I was quite stunned. Where she impressed most of all was in the three arias from Mitridate; in Pallid'ombre her intensive dramatic singing is a revelation. Glorious singing!" - Music Web International
