  • Description

THE 1991 DEBUT PEACEVILLE RECORDS STUDIO RELEASE FROM THE DOOM METAL GODS - ON VINYL WITH TWO ADDITIONAL TRACKS My Dying Bride are undisputed legends of the UK metal and doom scenes, having existed for over 25 years, with a consistent string of releases - both as originators and innovators -helping to shape the extreme metal scene since the early 90's, culminating in tours with acts such as Iron Maiden and Dio. 'Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium' was the band's first studio release for label Peaceville Records, released back in 1991, and an introduction for many to the atmospheric doom/death genre which was in its infancy at the time, blooming particularly in the UK, and spearheaded by fellow Yorkshiremen, Paradise Lost. Utilising an effective mix of Celtic Frost and Candlemass among others, My Dying Bride instilled an immense atmosphere of foreboding and dread in its listener with a concoction of brooding riffs, among themes of sex and death with religious overtones. The implementation of violin, an unusual addition at the time, only heightened the sense of atmosphere, and helped distinguish the band further from its peers. The 'Symphonaire Infernus...' EP was recorded at Academy Studios, known for its own involvement with groundbreaking UK doom releases for years, and was engineered by Keith Appleton. My Dying Bride had recently returned to Academy for the recording of their 2015 opus, 'Feel the Misery'. This is the first vinyl pressing of the release since 1991, and now includes the tracks 'God is Alone' and 'De Sade Soliloquy'. It is presented on 12" vinyl and features the original Dave McKean cover artwork.
