  • Description

Phil Harris enchanted a new generation of fans as the voice of Baloo singing "The Bare Necessities" in 'The Jungle Book' but was a successful recording artist long before. With this release Sepia Records focuses on that part of his talent, as leader of a big band and singing (typically) novelty songs or speciality material.

Here are twenty-six of his vibrant recordings made between 1949 and 1958, and it should be pointed out that only a few of them have been available in any form since their original release. Included is the complete stereo LP 'The South Shall Rise Again' with songs such as the Dixie-drenched "That's What I Like About the South", "New Orleans" and the title track "Is It True What They Say About Dixie".
