  • Description

"My music is a result of contemplation, pondering over the world; it is a reflection of emotions, thoughts and the state of mind of a human from the beginning of the 21st century," wrote a young Polish composer, Piotr A. Komorowski (b. 1977). On this album, the artist experiments with various techniques, explores qualities of sound by adding electronically generated sounds to traditional instruments (strings, accordion, percussion).

Komorowski draws inspiration from the surrounding world, as evidenced by such titles as The Sea for string quartet and tape (2005), Spring Landscape for string orchestra (2014) or Hidden World for accordion and tape (2015). Literature is also a starting point (the 2019 piece For whom the Bell Tolls for piano trio, the title of which refers to the poem by the English metaphysical poet John Donne).

Above all, however, Komorowski is fascinated by the sound itself as a natural environment and a field of human-music interaction (composition Journey to the Centre of Sound for percussion duo and tape, 2015). The artist believes, as he himself declares, that "music and art are the best way to communicate between people." It is in this spirit that his compositions are created, full of deep commitment to the world of human emotions, experiences and reflection.
