Description
Telemann called him "the greatest mind of his time", and Mattheson, who was usually stingy with praise, even considered him the best composer in the world at that time.
Reinhard Keiser (1674-1739) is a prime example of a musician who was held in the highest esteem during his lifetime, but is hardly present today.
He wrote numerous stage works for the Hamburg Opera, but his Ulysses of 1722 was written for Copenhagen for the king's birthday.
Antonius Adamske, the Göttingen Barockorchester and an illustrious group of soloists convincingly stick up for Keiser.
