Over the past decade, The Norwegian Wind Ensemble has accounted for some of the freshest concert productions in Norway. The professional orchestra based in Halden, has 24 musicians with astounding versatility and creativity, as well as leading soloists and guest conductors all striving constantly to reach higher musical goals.
Driving among Korrallrev in the southern Thai Andaman Sea inspired this suite of multitreblåser from composer Steffen Schorn. Inspired by weightlessness, colour and being surrounded by the ocean's infinity, Scornhas created a distinctive sound using two saxophones and up to 20 woodwinds.
Intended to conjure a world under water, the acousitic imagery is marked by lust and structure, dynamics and softness and change and influence.
'Tiefentraume' adds transcendental, diverse jazz concepts far beyond the norm, drawing the listener into enchanting worlds and on a journey of discovery into a new harmonious world.
