Description
Another DUX recording presenting an excellent interpretation of Fryderyk Chopin's works, this time performed by Thomas Prat.
The Ballade in F Minor, Op. 52 is a work of an already mature composer, conscious of influencing the audience with the beauty of lyrical phrase and epic breath. The Impromptu in A-flat Major, Op. 21 is an extremely demanding piece in terms of technique, kept in a fast tempo with a steady 'perpetual motion' in the left hand. Chopin's second com position representing that genre is the Impromptu in F-sharp Major, Op. 36; this time the character of the piece is definitely gentler, closer to a romantic nocturne. The third Impromptu in G-flat Major, Op. 51 closes the cycle of those compositions published during Chopin's lifetime and is characterized by an even more mature expression in a perfected form. 24 Preludes, Op. 28 are, in turn, a kind of intimate musical diary of the composer, a record of reflections of reality, ideas and events closed in a modest form, which was supposed to be merely an introduction to something larger, but turned out to be a finished work, 'a reflection of the inner world and at the same time a reflection of harmonia aeterna' (Walter Wiora).
Chopin's works are interpreted on the album by Thomas Prat. The artist is an engineer by profession, but his passion is music, which he studied at the National Conservatory of the Paris Region. He has won numerous prizes in competitions for amateur pianists, including the prestigious 1st prize in the 4th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition for Amateur Pianists in 2018 in Warsaw.
