After creating the highly acclaimed series of CDs Short Sharp Shanties, recording the entire repertoire of Watchet shantyman John Short, professional Exmoor folk singers Tom and Barbara Brown found that a combination of circumstances brought them to Minehead for their new CD Just Another Day…
The album is a collection of fifteen songs collected from two retired Minehead sea captains, James Vickery & Robert Lewis, over 100 years ago, and three new songs they have written for the 2014 Minehead Harbour Heritage Project.
Assisted by some of the leading musicians from the current acoustic music scene - with instruments as diverse as harpeleik, cor anglais, cello and mandolin - Tom and Barbara have recorded a wide-ranging set of songs from the serious to the ridiculous: from the beautiful to the thoughtful.
