Although the Jay McShann band is best remembered amongst Jazz fans for the early presence of Charlie Parker, the real commercial success came from singer Walter Brown with the big hit "Confessin' The Blues".

The album captures Brown at the peak of his powers-his career went rapidly downhill after leaving McShann, and he died an early death in 1956 aged only 38.
