  • Description

Producer/Artist/Songwriter, Dennis Dowlut returned to Australia in 2009 after spending two years living and writing in the UK, working with and writing for artists such as Kaz James, Macy Gray and Newton Faulkner. On his return, he started writing with long-term friend Aaron Mendoza, inspired by the great soul songwriting traditions of the 60s and the 70s. Finding a niche and a catalogue of songs in this timeless tradition, they put together Electric Empire, and immediately wowed audiences throughout Australia. During a lightning visit to UK in the summer, they played three packed sets at Glastonbury to rave reactions and secured a Craig Charles 6Music Session. These, in turn, brought them to the attention of Beverley Knight, who is taking them on tour through November in the UK, and Aloe Blac, whose guests the band will be throughout Europe in the new year. ELECTRIC EMPIRE will be touring the UK in November - as support on the Beverly Knight dates. Blues & Soul ***** Soul Cuts October edition front cover of MANIFESTO magazine. MOJO will be reviewing for their January edition "Australia, without a doubt, is going through a musical golden era - with so many incredible authentic Soul, Funk and Afro-Beat groups making an endless amount of excellent vintage-sounding music. Electric Empire have come straight in at the top with timeless music reminiscent of the best works of Donny Hathaway and 70's-era Stevie Wonder." CRAIG CHARLES , 6 MUSIC
