When The Country Gentlemen arrived on the Washington, DC bluegrass scene in the late '50s they brought with them a more urban, uptown sound to a traditionally rural music. Sometimes hailed as the fathers of newgrass, the Gentlemen softened the hard edged music with a 'folkier' sound and successfully took the appeal of the music beyond its country confines. With the reissue of JOE'S LAST TRAIN (a 1976 LP), every studio recording the band made for Rebel Records is now available on CD. Tracks: Joe's Last Train / Ages And Ages Ago / In My Younger Days / Pamela Brown / Cryin' Holy / This Land Must Die / Bloody Mary Morning / Goin' Home / Texas Chili / Free As The Wind / Dixieland For Me / Lord Don't Leave Me Here.
