Champions of the standing ovation The Hut People are constantly gaining more of a reputation as one of the most entertaining acts to appear on the folk scene. On the surface they seem like a "hard sell": mention Accordion and Percussion and people are dubious. What Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond have managed to do via their live performances and two previous CDs is win people over.
In their surprisingly engaging and often hilarious show they perform a truly unique high-octane blend of folk music from around the world perfectly formed and embellished with a foot stomping accordion and mind-boggling array of exotic percussion (you have to see it to believe it!).
Sam Pirt came up via The Pack and the award winning group, 422, and is acknowledged as one of he UK's leading accordion players. Gary Hammond served twelve years with The Beautiful South proving to be an adventurous and exceptionally tasteful player. In the last 12 months they made successful in-roads to the USA as part of a UK Folk Music package tour.
This is their third CD and should even more to bolster a burgeoning reputation.

“"For those who may anticipate the combination of a simple accordion and percussion duo to be limited or repetitive, The Hut people simply fly in the face of any such suggestion. Savour its diversity. Just open up the 'Cabinet Of Curiosities' and see what there is to discover." - Mike Ainscoe”FATEA
“"What this album demonstrates is that the music stands up in its own right and that the Hut People are far more than a novelty turn." - David Hadfield”fRoots
