The arch New Orleans purist of British Trad Jazz with 'live' recordings made in Germany in 1966.
Ken Colyer was the arch New Orleans 'purist' of the British Trad Jazz world. He carved out his own niche eschewing commercialism. Since his death he has become a cult figure. In the 1950s and 60s Trad Jazz was as big in Germany as it was here and the bands toured there regularly. Ken Colyer first went there in 1953 and every year after that.
This CD was recorded during his autumn tour of 1966 and includes four previously unreleased tracks as well as some tunes Colyer never recorded anywhere else. It is well recorded and finds the band on good form.
