In 2016 Fellside Recordings, a leading independent specialist record company, celebrates 40 years in business. Founded in 1976 by Paul and Linda Adams it is still run by them and between the various labels it has released 600 albums. The first label was Fellside, a Folk/Acoustic/Roots label and it is that which forms the basis of the triple album (for the price of one) compilation.

There are 57 tracks including some previously unissued material. The compilation includes tracks by Russell & Algar as well as other leading Folk artists like Lucy Ward, Ewan McLennan, John Kirkpatrick, The Hut People, and many others.
