Description
Dating from 1949, this live recording from Lausanne, Switzerland is an important addition to the archives of swing and early bebop performed live on the airwaves before such broadcasts in Europe became popular.
Led by trumpet player Bill Coleman and tenor saxophonist Don Byas, the two are joined by fellow American, vocalist Pops Whitman, and an all-French group featuring alto saxophone, vibraphone, and piano led rhythm section. This is the recording's first official release on disc.
Personnel: Bill Coleman (trumpet), Don Byas (tenor saxophone), Michel deVillers (alto saxophone), Geo Daly (vibes), Bernard Peiffer (piano), Jean Bouchety (bass), Roger Parabochi (drums), Pops Whitman (vocals)
