  • Description

<,p>Seven Gates is the new album from Gunter Kuhlwein and Friends.

When he was planning this recording, Kuhlwein chose partners whose merits and preferences he knew from countless earlier projects and performances. Opener and title track of this CD is Seven Gates, like all other tracks an original composition by Kühlwein. The title Seven Gates signifies the seven crotchets of the metre. The result is a groovy, emotionally charged journey with Francis Coletta on guitar and David Elias on drums.

Amongst the big names Kuhlwein has performed and recorded with in his career are Lou Rawls, The Three Degrees, Chick Willis and Mike Henderson in Blues and Soul; in the genre of jazz he teamed up with Benny Bailey, Al Grey, Curtis Fuller, Tony Scott, Pony Pointdexter, Red Holloway, George Robert and Andy Scherrer, bassists Eric Peter, Reggie Johnson and Peter Frei, drummers Alvin Queen, Peter Schmidli and Billy Brooks, to name but a few. Besides his engagements as accompanist, Kuhlwein has always led own projects arranging, composing and performing with G-Cool and Hot Hammond, Quartett Kühlwein-Johnson-Scherrer-Brook and the band Passage.
