Off The Course

The debut album from Lost Midas, Off The Course showcases the talents of LA musician Jason Trikakis, producing an electronic sound brimming with modern pop melodies and forward thinking synth-heavy production. Lost Midas signed to Tru Thoughts last year, initially releasing two EPs, including the instantly popular song Love Undone among a diverse collection of shimmering, synth-heavy and intricately melodic tracks. Three years in the making, Off the Course charts Trikakis time in LA, the album began life in his old West Hollywood basement studio and was finished in his current space downtown, the amazing Luv U studio which he shares with his brother (producer NuTrik). To listen to the record is to take a unique sonic guided tour of the city, filtered through Trikakis emotional and personal experiences. Influences range from a lifelong love of pop melodies and the 80s New Wave through J. Dilla to The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Lost Midas productions tread an aesthetic turf somewhere between Neon Indian and Bibio; irresistible ditties peeped through striking textures and energetic beats.
