Junk Funk

Sotho Sounds are funky shepherds from the Kingdom of Lesotho who have quite literally invented their own music, crafted their own instruments and now continue to follow their own mission - turning junk into funk. Sotho Sounds are a unique band who craft their own instruments out of junk, combining four-string tin guitars, metal one-string fiddles and booming oil-tin drums. Their debut album is one of the first international recordings to come out of the kingdom of Lesotho and perfectly captures the excitement and humorous bounce of their live performances. They were selected in 2011 to give a showcase at the prestigious Womex World Music Expo in Copenhagen and have performed at many prestigious music festivals, including WOMAD UK.
