Description

In 1998 Big D aka DJ Impossible (the original and real one) was still not over the loss of music great and worldwide Ican, Tupac Shakur. When he met a very talented, ambitious, young, undiscovered singer/song writer, new to Los Angeles from Las Vegas, by the name of Mr. Shaffer Chimere Smith, Big D noticed a shine in young Shaffers eye, along with the same burning desire and undeniable drive present at a near identical age as 2Pac. Eventually tagging Shaffer with the monicker Ne-Yo, because he, like 2Pac, has the ability to write a song as if they could see the lurics from the other side like in the Matrix films. A lasting friendship was born and a producer/artist relationship was established that would lead to the creation of many wonderful songs, 12 of which are embodied on this record. This laid the foundation for a soon to be lyrical genius and bonafide Supa Star ! One would think that the early stages of a established lyrical and musical Star would have been a little touch and go. Not here, producers Big D and Big Ray are totally on point with the production. Even though these sessions were recorded prior to Ne-Yo being signed to a big record deal and began writing songs for established recording stars. The songs are as fresh and new as the hit material he penned for himself and others.
