Produced by Norah Jones collaborator Adam Levy, the record is a paragon of tastefulness, showcasing Wood's broad musical palate, brooding lyrical prowess, and prodigious abilities as a stylist. His interpretations demonstrate a deep appreciation for these songs and an unpretentious refusal to generate either cleverly perverse arrangements or carbon copies. He possesses an ability to make these songs his own effortlessly and without compromise. Flutter and Wow features a cast of seasoned Memphis music scene veterans, as is evident from the first note. The fact that the entire CD was recorded to 2-inch magnetic tape with minimal overdubbing is another reason it sounds and feels so good.
