  • Description

This is the debut album from London-based, Glasgow-born drummer/composer Corrie Dick. Leading a nine-piece ensemble, Corrie's music is a triumphant celebration of genuinely euphoric music, which manages to be both sophisticated and melodic.

Corrie's prowess as a unique composer has been evident in his contributions to his diverse projects, including power-jazz quartet Blue-Eyed Hawk and songwriter-influenced Little Lions, but here his uninhibited style has flourished to new levels. Corrie has penned a rich diversity of contemporary folk melodies reminiscent of Celtic traditions and at times North African music and arranged them in a perfectly flowing series of modern-day anthems.

He has provided a platform for each member of this powerhouse supergroup to flourish organically throughout, notably Alice Zawadzki's vocal control drips with mercurial poise on the Alice in Wonderland themed 'Six Impossible Things', Laura Jurd's flowing and impeccably articulated trumpet on the Moroccan-tinged 'Annamarrakech' and saxophonist Joe Wright's unbearably passionate self-condemnation on 'Lock Your Heart Up'.

Personnel: Corrie Dick (drums/percussion), Joe Webb (wurlitzer/organ), Matt Robinson (piano, pocket piano), Laura Jurd (trumpet), Joe Wright (tenor and soprano saxophones, whistle), George Crowley (tenor saxophone), Felix Higginbottom (percussion), Conor Chaplin (bass), Alice Zawadzki (vocals, fiddle)
