Formed in 2017 by drummer J. Scarlett and lead guitarist R. Amun out of the ashes of two former Extreme Metal projects and the addition of rhythm guitarist C. W. Wolfgang and bassist and lead vocalist T. Nachtghul, Devastator quickly proceeded to take the local Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire scenes by storm with their unrelenting take on the primitive 'Black Thrash Attack' following the release of their self-titled three track demo heavily inspired by the titans of yesterday such SODOM, BATHORY, VENOM, HELLHAMMER and MOTORHEAD - the foundations were laid for what was to come.
Devastator continued to bulldoze through the underground live scene every year and bursting into the mainstream performing at notable events such as STUDFEST 2022 with EXCITER at the Underworld in London, a monumental set at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR FESTIVAL 2022 and most recently as special guests for the US-based METAL BLADE RECORDS-alumni MIDNIGHT on the UK leg of their 20-year anniversary tour, cementing their reputation as one of the very best live bands in the underground today the band continues to storm the stage with multiple headline performances and tours under their belts as well as other support slots to international artists such as NECRODEATH (Italy), VOMITOR (Australia), BOLZER (Switzerland), SLAUGHTER MESSIAH (Belgium) amongst others.
In 2020, Devastator signed a one-album deal with the UK-based indie label CLOBBER RECORDS and would go on to release their debut album "BAPTISED IN BLASPHEMY" to strong critical acclaim in the press across five continents and garnering the attention of recognised industry figures such BEN WARD (ORANGE GOBLIN), Tony Dolan (VENOM) and DOM LAWSON (METAL HAMMER/THE GUARDIAN) - an exceptional feat for an underground debut album that was released during the difficult times brought on by the worldwide pandemic.
As of 2023, following the independent release of the new single "Liar in Wait", the band was approached by European label LISTENABLE RECORDS and with a deal struck Devastator signed a multi-year contract with the legendary label. With necessary preparations ready the band's long-awaited sophomore album, which will see its release under the LISTENABLE RECORDS banner in Spring 2024, the band eagerly plans their assault on the next frontier - mainland Europe and beyond.
