Recorded at frontman Jonas Bonnetta's rural Ontario studio, and reunited with band members Jon Hynes on bass, guitars, backing vocals, Andrew Kekewich on drums, and longtime producer/engineer James Bunton, Bonnetta crafted his news songs with the feeling of moving on and a newly established sense of clarity and focus.
"All My Life I Have Been Running" is about gaining clarity and finding comfort in chaos. I was seeking release when I made & toured my last record, but eventually I realized nothing was ever going to satisfy me if I kept analyzing everything with so much intensity. I needed to write a ripper - a song with a Tom Petty bridge - about accepting who I am and how I perceive the world. Everything has led to this distinct level of clarity that I have now about my Dad passing away.
Bonnetta started writing and recording his third album almost immediately after completing a tour across North America & Europe in support of his critically-revered 2013 album Spectral Dusk, a grief-stricken homage to the passing of his father in 2009. The songs on Quiet Energies exceed Evening Hymns' promise of stunning immensity, possessed with the awakened momentum for accepting the irreconcilable. Defining what Quiet Energies means, Bonnetta says "Quiet Energies is the concept that all of this pent-up energy could be stored inside these quiet moments - a whisper that could be as effective as an explosion."

Quiet Energies, recorded with James Bunton in Bonnetta's rural Ontario studio, sees the band (Bonnetta, Jon Hynes on bass and Andrew Kekewich on drums) let the sun and some Tom Petty into the songs, crafting the consummate driving record with deeply personal and insightful lyrics.
"I was in LA and drove out to Joshua Tree to spend the day wandering around and shooting Super-8 film. I had been listening to so much Tom Petty on that trip, and it kind of came to me that this record was a journey. A road trip album. A driving album."
