Description
Ewan MacColl has long been acknowledged as one of the prime architects of the British Folk Revival. As a songwriter and dramatic interpreter of the great ballads his influence has been of the utmost importance. His wide-ranging talent encompasses songs of the industrial revolution, Scottish history and from the English countryside. One of his most significant achievements was "The Radio Ballads", a project unique in both the history of British folk music and British radio. The 20 tracks on this budget-price compilation are drawn from his recordings for the Topic Records label from the late 1960s onwards, 13 with Peggy Seeger on guitar or banjo accompaniment and two with concertina player Alf Edwards. -
