  • Description

Well, well, well... they said it couldn't be done, but look what just kicked you in the ass.
Our debut album is coming out. It's a dancer and it's a prancer, and hopefully it's a life enhancer.
We recorded it way back in 2021 with head wizard, Wiz and his jester Stan for some extra magic and spice and it's been a long old wait but, only another 3 months and it's yours!

Hot on the heels of phenomenally well received first cut Dancing Man ("the end result of an abstract tale about a sinister character - DIY Magazine") which was seized on by the likes of Steve Lamacq, Dork, Upset, Clash, DIY and stacks more alongside a sold out return to London, Heavy Lungs FINALLY announce their debut album, and it's as huge as one might hope from the post-punk's finest noiseniks. Formed during the early days of summer 2017, Heavy Lungs can't help feeling like a product of their Bristolian environment. "Living here, it's hard not to see the scars the city can leave," says drummer George Garratt. "Like burning your bare leg skin on the exhaust of a motorbike--inconvenient and painful, but not without its equal share of humour and self reflection."

Quickly writing and recording an ep and playing their first show within months of forming, they have been a band hungry from the off. Honing their craft and forging their tight bond as a unit, the quartet have gone from strength to strength over the past few years, even through the global pandemic. Incidentally, if their frontman's name seems oddly familiar it might be because the Ukrainian-born vocalist is the titular subject of IDLES hit 'Danny Nedelko'.

If you're wondering what being a part of HEAVY LUNGS' particular gang is like, they describe it as "something similar to dating three people at the same time. Daunting, exhausting, but not without some very serious privileges. We share a lot of mutual friends, interests, hates, postcodes, dietary restrictions, debts, UBERs, dreams/nightmares, vices and daddy issues."

Hand-picked by French photographer and grand couturier Hedi Slimane for CELINE's 'Portrait of a Performer' series with Esquire Magazine, Nedelko and the band have also collaborated with a range of high profile brands including Fred Perry and Jagermeister.

Touring extensively across the UK and Europe, with three EPs released so far, HEAVY LUNGS are only just getting started with their plans for world domination. Attracting significant radio play, with fans already including Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop at BBC 6music, and sharing stages with the likes of METZ, Thee Oh Sees, IDLES, JOHN, CROWS, and DITZ, the band have always been in good company.
