This is a timely reissue of the 2012 debut album by the genre- bending and boundary pushing Monika Roscher Bigband, who released their third album 'Witchy Activities And The Maple Death' in 2023 to much acclaim throughout Europe, including UK publications such as Jazzwise and The Arts Desk. 'Failure in Wonderland' is a fascinating odyssey brimming with ideas and was the German 18-piece big band's first foray into the musical hinterland that links cinematic jazz, art rock, avant pop and experimental electronics. It made significant waves in their home territory, with magazine and newspaper critics praising its singular and seminal artistic vision. The album received the Echo Jazz 'Newcomer' award in Germany and also won the 'Rising Star' award from the writers at the US jazz magazine DownBeat. The band played a number of prestigious festivals as a result, including Jazzfest Berlin, Jazz&theCity Salzburg, Fusion Festival, Alto Adige and Elbphilharmonie.
