VENN have announced details of their second 12" release on their own label Rune.
RUNE002 was recorded at Total Refreshment Centre by Kristian Craig Robinson (aka. Capital K) of the Archie Bronson Outfit who also produced the band's first 12" 'RUNE001'.
Three of the four tracks won't be available digitally and will only appear on the 12".
The band said about the EP: 'RUNE002' is a collection of four self-contained pieces, written as such, and later consolidated into a (hopefully) coherent whole through a common sonic palette and lyrical concerns.
This is our first record that was written, and in some instances, conceived as the group spread between two countries.
While the first E.P grew out of regularly playing together in the same room, RUNE002 has travelled many times over the internet between studios and apartments in London and Berlin; the songs having been played only a handful of times. As such, the recording process was the testing ground of a new blueprint for working.
As on RUNE001, certain sounds found on this record do not necessarily originate from sessions specific to this new recording. Some are completely unremembered as to their source, while others predate the band, and are re-contextualised within it. We aren't necessarily sure of the significance of this.
We will now look to reorganise the past two years of recordings into a longer format release. -
